Reminder Notice Regarding Club Policies and Safety

COVID 19

As part of our Covid Safety Plan we ask that if any of the following applies to you or your household that you/your child do not come to training or games.

  • if you have cold like symptoms

  • if you have visited any of the NSW hot spots

  • if you or someone in your household is self isolating

  • if you or someone in your household are awaiting results of a Covid 19 test

Please know that our coaches and managers have the full support of the committee if they ask you to leave training/games when one or more of the above apply.

SPECTATORS

Football NSW, our association and MUFC are continually monitoring the current numbers and hot spots in NSW. Although restrictions have eased for sporting fields we ask that only parents or carers attend games. We completely understand that sometimes extended family and friends would like to watch you or your child play but we need to make sure we are doing everything we can to keep our community safe.

DOG POLICY

We have issued two notices in regard to dogs at Lighthouse Oval. It is club policy that our oval is dog free as many young children are afraid of dogs and we aim to make our space a safe environment. We are responsible for the oval and have a duty of care to our players, volunteers and spectators. We understand that some ovals do allow this, but Lighthouse Oval is not one of these. Please leave your dog at home.

PARKING

No doubt that if you were at the oval on Saturday you would have experienced how incredibly busy our car park is now that our Mini Roo season has kicked off. To ensure our car park is as safe as possible and to make sure you are closer to your games we have a few points for you to follow.

- UNDER 7S, 9S, 10S, 11S, 12GIRLS, PRIMARY GIRLS: Could you please use the top parking lot. When parking along the fence line of the unit block please park nose in or reverse in. Do not parallel park as it takes up too much sort after space. Those parking along the oval fence line please park smartly so we can fit as many cars in as possible.

- MINIS, 13BOYS AND 14GIRLS: Please use the bottom car park. When parking please park in the marked lines. If you are parking on the grass area make sure you leave room for others to get in and out. There are places to park inside the fence line on the bottom oval but please be aware this is where emergency vehicles access the field. You must park past the black line if you are parking on the side facing the field. This ensures the drive way is clear. We had may cars not following this on Saturday and if it continues we will need to shut the gate as it is a priority to have access to the fields in case of emergency.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and we appreciate your help in ensuring our club stays safe.

Update for Coaches, Players and Parents

COACHES-PLAYERS-PARENTS

Yes, it's time for another update in preparation for the 2020 season!

Over the covid break the bottom goals were trashed but some recovery has taken place once we removed the posts. Please remember the bottom oval is our competition field and is not to be used for shooting or training. Action will be taken if you can not adhere to this rule.

PORTABLE POSTS

If you move posts on the top oval you must always have the sand bags on even if it is lying down. There is up to a $2000 fine and in severe circumstances a possible jail sentence for not complying to this safety measure.

Please also always put the posts back unless you are told otherwise from a member of the committee.

On the topic of safety we ask you to please be vigilant and not let anyone swing and/or climb on the goals. This is extremely dangerous and we will take action if anyone was to ignore this.

COACHES

Please note there is to be no use of the goal box areas unless doing a shooting drill on the top oval. Please also be sure to check with other coaches that are training so that these areas can be shared.

PARENTS

If your team is the last game on the field for the day please help take down the nets and posts and then put them in the gear shed down on the bottom oval. Please do not walk off and leave it to your coach and the volunteers as the saing goes, many hands make light work. We are very fortunate to have a group of volunteers set up the oval each game day, so please do your part.

PARKING

With restrictions still in place and with how crazy it can be in our carpark on a Saturday morning please park sensibly so we can all get a spot. Teams under 9-10-11-12 Girls and Primary Girls please use the top car park near the cricket nets.

Thank you for your assitance in attending to these matters, and we can not wait to get the season up and running with you!

Juniors Return to Training

By now everyone should have had some correspondence from their coaches regarding returning to football. If you have not please contact them or the club and we will provide you with the details you need.

With training starting up next week there is a few guidelines and rules we need to share to ensure we all stay safe.

  1. As exciting as it is, please do not congregate before and after training. We ask that parents/carers stay in the car and that players only hop out of the car 5 minutes before training begins.

  2. Hand sanitiser will be provided and used before, during and after training.

  3. We ask that players please not touch any equipment set out by the coach or handle the footballs.

  4. Thankfully yesterday we found out the restrictions for outdoor training has changed to 20 which allows teams to train together with the max on a team being 16. That said, training will be adhering to social distancing.

  5. Drink bottles must be clearly labelled and spaced out to prevent sharing.

  6. We ask that if a player has been unwell that they do not attend training. Coaches have permission and the support of the club to send players home if they show up at training sick. It is for the safety and well being for all.

We have given each team a designated time slot to train each week to ensure we give everyone enough space to train. Your coach has been given this timetable and will let you know when your training has been set.

The draw for the season is on its way but we can share that due to the short time we have games will be played throughout the school holidays. Once the draw is complete we will let all the coaches know and share it on our Facebook page and a link will be on the home page of our website.

As the season draws closer we will have more information on what game day will look like as at the moment it is still a work in progress.

The committee would like to thank everyone for their patience and we wish you all (finally) the absolute best for the season. May this year be the #yearofthepanthers ⚽

2020 MiniRoos Program

Dear MiniRoos Partents,

This week MUFC announced the return of Junior, Youth and Senior competitions from 1st July 2020.

Whilst restrictions are increasingly being lifted, limitations to gathering numbers and social distancing rules remain in place. Due to the large number of players and spectators that participate in our MiniRoo program, our Club cannot resume this program until these restrictions are downgraded.  READ MORE >>

New Update for Club Members

Some of you may have seen that Football NSW has announced a lift on training as of last night. At the present moment our association is still awaiting approval from council before we can commence training. There are many issues we need to address before this can happen and we will continue to keep you all updated as new information surfaces.

The committee hope you are all staying safe and can’t wait till we can all join together to play football again.

Extension of Suspension of Football

Football Federation Australia (FFA) have advised that in light of the ongoing developments since its original announcement, including stricter measures imposed by the Federal Government in response to COVID-19, the temporary suspension to sanctioned grassroots football competitions and associated Training would remain in place until at least the 31st of May 2020.

Suspension of Football

Football Federation Australia (FFA) today advised that, after considered discussion with its nine State and Territory Member Federations and assessment of developments today, sanctioned grassroots football competitions and associated training would be suspended for the next four weeks.

The decision will take effect from 12:00am on Wednesday, 18 March 2020 until Tuesday, 14 April 2020

** taken from press release from the FFA

Important Notice to all Club Members!

We have some important information to share with you regarding the bottome oval, our policy on dogs, parking and more.

BOTTOM OVAL

Our bottom oval is our competition field and so there is to be no training on it at all. We have ample room on the top oval for everyone to use. The club does all the maintainence for this oval and is used excessively for competition games during the season, which is why we want to keep it in pristene condition. Please adhere to this request as we will give one warning if we catch any training on there, the next time you will be asked to fron the board.

DOGS ON FIELDS

Please note the club has the fields booked through council for training and games. We have a club policy of no dogs to be taken onto the grounds during this time. Please keep your dog outside the fence line otherwise we wil ask you and your pet to leave the field. The reason we have this policy in place is beacuse we have strong numbers in our juniors and many young children are afraid of dogs. We aim to provide a safe environment whilst playing/training and this is one of the precautions we have in place in order for this to happen.

WET WEATHER

Please keep an eye on our Facebook page. If anything is postponed/cancelled or if grounds are closed we will share it on there. On Saturday’s we inspect the oval at 7am to see if it is ok to play on. For weekdays this procedure is done before 4pm.

PORTABLE GOALS

Our under 8 and 9 goals will be sercured and are not to be moved. The portable posts on the main field for the under 10, 11 and 12 field are secured by heavy sand bags. If you move them you must lay them down and put the sand bags on them. If you do move these you must put them back unless advised not to by another coach, then the responsibility of returning the goals is on them. Fines by law for unsecured posts can go up to $2000 or possible prison time, and no we aren’t joking.

GAME DAY

The fields are set up by a group of volunteers at 7:30am on Saturday mornings. The team that is playing last on that field are responsible to return the nets and posts to our storage shed. Parents, please jump in and help as it does not take long, don’t just walk away and leave the coach to pack up. They are volunteering their time for your child so it would be nice to support them in this way.

NIGHT GAMES

This is the same as above but before you take the nets down please double check as there will be times when the nets are left up as there is games on the following night.

PARKING

You will find once all teams and Minis start that parking is a nightmare. We ask that if your child is playing in the under 7, 9, 10, 11, 12 age groups could you please park on the far side near the cricket nets as you will be closer to your games and there will be more room to park. Please park nose in when parking on the grass at top oval. If your child is playing under 5, 6, 8, 13, 14 age groups please use the bottom car park. If you are lucky there may be parking available within the fenceline for the bottom oval. If parking here please make sure you are past the black line as it prevents the road being blocked. This is really important for emergency situations. Even with these measures there will still be a chance you may have to park on the road. This is a known issue we are in the process of fixing alongside council but until it is resolved we do ask for your cooperation.

U13 Boys Second Grading

We are holding a second grading for the U13 boys. This will be held on Tuesday the 3rd of March from 5pm up at Lighthouse Oval.

Please make sure shin pads are worn and all watches removed for training for the safety of the players.

We only have a few positions left for this age group so register asap to avoid missing out!

Grading and other FAQ's

Last night our grading week kicked off with the U9’s and U10’s. Thank you to everyone who came up for the first official kick around of the season for these age groups. It was really noce to see so many faces.

After this we had a few questions and so we decided to put them all down for you.

What is grading?

We hold grading to help the club put together teams in the age groups. From U9 to U15 we have at least two teams in every age group. In some of these age groups the teams will be playing against each other therefore we use the grading to make sure we make the teams as even as possible in skill level. Other age groups there is an A division and a B division and so grading is done to fill these teams accordingly.

We’ve had grading, what happens next?

After your grading the coaches and committee that are there on the day then create the teams. Once the teams are confirmed each coach contacts their players to introduce themselves and let you know what night and time training will be on.

I haven’t registered my child yet, can they still go to grading and be put in a team?

The short answer, no. We need players to be registered in order to be put in teams. That is why we ask players to be registered before their grading. This is due to past issues with teams being ‘full’ but only having a few registered. Priority is always given to registered players unless otherwise discussed with the MUFC committee.

Is it possible for my child to be put in a team with ____ for travel reasons?

As a club made up of big families with multiple children that travel and of parents who need to work weekends we totally understand this request. If this is something you need please email the club on admin@mufc.net.au and we will do our absolute best to adhere to it. We recommend having two options of players you would prefer your child to be in a team with as the chances will be higher to be with at least one of them.

Can my child play in a different age group?

This is a tricky one. Yes, it is possible, but it depends on the reasoning. We do have multiple players that play up an age group as it is more challenging and therefore more beneficial for them. This is only approved to players that coaches and/or committee agree need to be moved up an age. Playing down an age group is rare, and is something that needs to be approved by the association for a special reason. Girls can play down an age group from U9’s to U11’s if they are playing in the mixed competition without approval needed from the association.

My daughter isn’t comfortable playing in the mixed competition, is there another option for her?

Yes there sure is. Many years ago one of our wonderful life members Gwen set out to create a place for girls to play the game in a comfortable and supportive environment. This was the start of the Primary Girls. This squad trains on a Friday and plays on a Saturday against each other. We recommend Primary Girls to any new female player or to any females that find playing against and alongside boys a bit intimidating. This is open to girls aged 8 to 10.

We hope these help answer any questions you may have. If not, please contact us and we will do what we can to answer them.
