Skill Training Certificate (Coaches) - Saturday 14th March, 10am

It is widely accepted that player retention is vital to any sport and club. FFA research shows that the main reason for players leaving our sport is poor coaching. Best practice suggests that “on the job” training provides optimum results and therefore delivery of coach education and support of coaches within the club environment would provide the best opportunities for coaches and positive experiences for young players. A minimum requirement is that the sessions are safe, organised, enjoyable and engaging; therefore support and feedback will predominantly focus on coaching behaviours. - Play Football Administration

"Skill acquisition phase"

For coaches training 9-13 year old players

In the Skill Acquisition Phase the coach MUST focus on building a solid foundation of technical skill.

The course is conducted over 5 hours, is fully practical and deals with the development of the 4 Functional Game Skills:

First Touch

Striking the Ball

Running with the Ball

1 v 1

The course fee is covered by Shoalhaven District Football Association, however, spots are limited. Please Register by emailing admin@mufc.net.au

MiniRoos Coaches Course - Thursday 12th March, 5.30pm

It is widely accepted that player retention is vital to any sport and club. FFA research shows that the main reason for players leaving our sport is poor coaching. Best practice suggests that “on the job” training provides optimum results and therefore delivery of coach education and support of coaches within the club environment would provide the best opportunities for coaches and positive experiences for young players. A minimum requirement is that the sessions are safe, organised, enjoyable and engaging; therefore support and feedback will predominantly focus on coaching behaviours. - Play Football Administration

"Discovery phase"

For coaches training 5-9 year old players.

The 2 hour course is fully practical and encourages the coach to develop practices that are based on FUN. The emphasis is on natural development i.e. learning by PLAYING football. No coaching but organising FUN football exercises is the key to helping players build a love for the game. Another highlight of the course is that the coaches are exposed to basic rules of the game as well as tips and hints on building a football culture in a completely practical setting.

The course is free, however, spots are limited. Please Register by emailing admin@mufc.net.au

Boot Bin

MUFC has a boot bin of donated children’s boots, free to use. Most are in great condition and only seen a few games use.

If you have a spare pair of boots that you no longer need please bring them down and add them to the collection.

Boots will be on display at the MUFC Open Day, Saturday 22nd February. Take a pair home for the season or make a donation.

Alternatively, the boot bin is available every Saturday during the season, please enquire in the Canteen.

Junior Teams Information

The season is rolling in, much quicker then we all thought. It is in fact beginning early this year due to the Association putting all competition champions (minor premiers from the U13’s and up) in to participate in the Champions of Champions kockout competition. This is an awesome opportunity for our club to showcase our talented teams against teams from all over.

Therefore, the beginning of the 2020 season will be:

Saturday 28th March - U9, U10, U11, U12 Girls, U13 Boys and U14 Girls (Primary Girls TBC)

Wednesday 2nd April - U15 Boys, U16 Girls and U17 Boys

Soon we will be setting dates for grading. In order to be considered for grading, you MUST be registered. It is in your best interest to attend your grading, although we do understand that players may not be able to. If you can’t please let us know by emailing admin@mufc.net.au or messaging us through our Facebook page.

Please also be aware we have a trial game on the 7th of March against Forest Rangers Football Club. We are hosting this club as they want to come down and visit our community and to do their part in supporting us after the horrific start to the year our towns experienced. There will be both junior and senior teams playing on the day, your coach will confirm with you if your team is indeed part of this. There is an event after the trials at the Milton Ulladulla ExServo’s including dinner, a kids disco and drawing the winners of our Bush Fire Relief Raffle. Tickets for this raffle and more details will be shared soon. In the meantime, click the button to head to the event on Facebook and let us know you are attending.

Make sure you are following us on Facebook and Instagram and keep checking our website for any news or events that may be of interest.

We need Coaches!

The season is coming at us fast, and we still need some volunteers to coach for almost all ages.

If you were interested in taking up this opportunity please email admin@mufc.net.au with the age group you would like to coach for consideration.

We are a club that was built and supported by volunteers. We understand it is a big commitment and can be difficult but rest assure the committee is with you throughout the whole season. We have a Club Captain whose role is to support you with any issue or query you have. We have a tonne of resources for you to utilise in regard to training and games. It is a very rewarding experience that in return will help keep this club up and running and the kids out on the pitch.

We are also seeking managers for each team. A managers role is to help the coach with communication with the team and online team sheets allowing the coach to focus on training and games. Therefore if you’re not so confident in taking on coaching, a manager role is a perfect role for you. If this was something that would interest you, email admin@mufc.net.au with the age group you would like to manage.

So what are you waiting for? Take the leap and email us now!

Public Report of 2019 MUFC Research and Feedback Survey

First, the committee would like to extend their appreciation to all participants in the survey. There was over 100 responses which was incredible to see. We have read every single answer and have analysed all comments whether they be positive or negative. We will use this to better ourselves individually and as a team to ensure we are providing the best football club we can.

The support for a new club house was extremely encouraging and so we will be taking on this project. All suggestions are being considered and decisions will be made with the clubs needs both now and in the future in mind. There were a few comments made that set unrealistic timelines for this to be completed, so we ask you to please be patient. This project is enormous in both time and cost. Updates will be shared on our social media and website whenever milestones are met as we want you all to be a part of this journey.

The carpark is a major concern of the committee. The survey results were almost unanimous in agreeance that something needs to be done. Action will be taken to try and get a solution for this before the winter season. Please note that this is an issue we are trying to resolve with council. Your input in our survey will help us in getting their attention so we thank you for that.

Lighting of the oval has been an issue we have discussed as a committee for a few months, before the survey was released. We will be seeking grants and looking into new, more powerful lights so that we are not faced with this dilemma for a very long time. This will cost upwards of $100, 000 to do just one oval and so patience is something we ask for this project as well.

The average star rating we received from your experience with MUFC was a 4.2 out of 5 which we were ecstatic to obtain. The committee will strive to continue delivering a supportive, inclusive environment throughout our club and hope that we can improve. All your comments were heard, and changes will be implemented moving forward.

On behalf of the MUFC Committee, thank you for taking the time to not only read this report but for your support of our club.

Regards,

Caylie Wise

MUFC Secretary

Update on Female Age Groups for 2020

As you may or may not be aware, the association has changed the age groups for females for the 2020 season. They are now U12, U14 and U16.

U12’s are to be played on a Saturday morning. This will be a 9-a-side competition played on a smaller field.

U14’s are also played on a Saturday morning.

U16’s will be played on a Wednesday night.

Due to all of this we have had to alter the ages that will be able to play Primary Girls. This will be restricted to players born in 2010 and 2011 to allow us the best chance of fielding an U12 team.

The reason for these changes is that we are seeing a drop in the amount of female players throughout the Shoalhaven. This is one step we are trialling to try and keep females playing football.

Please note these changes are for the whole Shoalhaven and so your support in this will be greatly appreciated!
