On Saturday, 29th, August, Milton 11A black, sitting 3rd on the table took on 2nd place Huskisson. This top of the table clash didn’t disappoint. Milton starting off with early pressure, creating a few chances on goal.
Milton conceded a free kick just outside the box with Husky’s shot just going over the bar.
Huskisson kept the pressure on Milton but some solid defence by Jacob denied any threat on the Milton goal. Tully was also strong at the back winning 1 on 1 tackles and clearing the ball safely away all game.
Nixon showed great ball control and speed with some breakaways down the sideline creating some shots that were matched by the Husky keeper.
Finally the break came minutes before halftime when Kristian chased the ball down to keep it in on the sideline, and put in a low cross finding the feet of Mitchell in the box to knock it into the back of the net. Milton 1 Huskisson 0.
The second half kicked off and the action continued straight away with both sides pushing to score. Huskisson had their attempts on goal matched by some great saves by our amazing goal keeper Jordan.
Huskisson’s continued pressure finally paid off with a nice shot hitting the back of net bringing sides level, 1-1.
It only took a few minutes before Milton took the lead again through Nixon scoring a great individual goal, putting the ball pass the keeper inside the far post. Milton 2 Huskisson 1.
Huskisson responded straight away and brought game level yet again. Milton created some last minute chances to try and take back the lead but the final whistle brought the game to an end, final score 2-2.
All the Milton players had a fantastic game, playing great as a team. They now prepare for their semi final game next week. Good luck!
