Primary Girls Match Report 25/07/2020

How fortunate were the fifteen primary girls for their soccer game last Saturday morning when the sun shone over all the fields at Lighthouse Oval. It was great to see the Miniroos back in action and also some exciting competition matches.

The Primary Girls continue to show their improved skills and teamwork. Training last week focused on corner kicks, goal kicks, quick passes and stops as well as dribbling. Many thanks to the girls who assisted with each group.

Saturday’s match began with Reds taking early control and scoring the first goals. To their credit, the Blues fought back and with a team change, they managed to also score. Both sides demonstrated some pleasing team work and especially noteworthy was the increased confidence and persistence by the season’s new players. Thank you to Milla for swapping sides.

Aanya, Iluka, Anahera  and Aurelia - good position and cover

Charli, Georgie, Matilda and Olivia - persistent pressure and non stop energy

Amelia, Evie and Milla - constant attack and fearless defence.

Experienced primary girls, Abby, Jaya, Rosie and Skye - played their usual solid game with considered passes and great teamwork.

Well done to all players and thank you to referee Nigel and those who helped with removal of nets and poles.

Remember training is on Friday 4:00 and the focus will be on defence skills and goal keeping. Our game this Saturday is in the usual spot at the usual time of 10am

Soccer joke of the week:

How do we know soccer referees are happy?  Because they whistle while they work.
