Grading Schedule for 2022 Released!

The wait is over, here is next weeks grading schedule!

All registered players have been emailed so check your inbox for a bit more detail.

Please note, in order to participate in grading you MUST be registered.

Grading looks a little different this year as we have established a Grading Committee of some very experienced, passionate individuals.

Don’t forget the Open Day is on tomorrow from 10am to 12pm, otherwise we’ll see you out on the field!

How to Register as a Primary Girl

We are very fortunate to have the incredible Gwen Johnson running her Primary Girls again this year.

For those who are unaware of this program, it is an option for girls turning 9 and 10 in 2022 that either do not wish to play in a mixed competition or are brand new to the sport and want a comfortable place to learn and develop. Gwen’s Primary Girls is an extremely supportive environment that allows our young female players to thrive in a non-competitive, fun and safe space.

The Primary Girls play on Saturday mornings with training to be on Friday afternoons from 4pm to 5pm, with a start date to be confirmed. They play small sided games against each other and the teams are mixed each week so all the girls will get a chance to play with and against each other. Gear that needs to be worn are shoes (joggers or boots), shin pads, socks that cover shin pads (MUFC ones can be purchased at Sports Power) and shorts that are comfortable to run in. The club has a playing strip that the girls will be given on game day and returned at the end of the game.

We are the only club in the Shoalhaven to have a program like this. 2022 marks 27 years of the Primary Girls and incredibly every year has been run by Gwen. With the help of this program, in 2021 we had more junior female players then male. That is the first time in the history of the club it has happened. Gwen is a big supporter in female participation in sport (especially soccer) and we are so glad that her efforts in starting this have been so successful.

Now that you know all of this, and you are really keen to register your daughter as a Primary Girl there are a few steps and some things you will need to be aware of.

  1. When you are registering through the link on our website you will notice that there is no Primary Girls option, only the age group that your daughter is a part of. That is absolutely fine, as it is not the team you are registering for, rather the age group.

  2. Once you have registered, please send an email to admin@mufc.net.au with your daughters name stating that you wish for her to be a Primary Girl. This allows our registrar to place her in the correct team.

  3. If you forget or accidently skip step 2 that’s ok, the Registrar will always contact female players of the Primary Girls age to ask which team they would prefer to play in so that we do not get any mix ups or miss anyone.

  4. Please note that there is a limit on the Primary Girls as we do not have the field space or resources so it is best to register early.

  5. As amazing as Gwen is, she does need some helpers to assist with some aspects of running the Primary Girls. If you are interested please email admin@mufc.net.au as Gwen would absolutely love and appreciate that support.

So, that’s all you need to know! Please reach out if you need any assistance with registration or have any questions. We hope this is helpful and that we get to see the Primary Girls into another successful year.

Junior Summer Soccer Update

After a bit of a rocky beginning the MUFC Committee are excited to announce the Junior Summer Soccer season will be going ahead.

We will get a full season in with a slight break over Christmas. Once we have an idea on how many teams will be playing in each competition we will have a better understanding on an end date. For now, the season will be kicking off on Tuesday the 2nd of November with a minimum of 10 games.

Registrations are open now so jump on to www.mufc.net.au and click the Register button.

Just a reminder that the age groups are:

Cubs - ages 8, 9 and 10

Pumas - ages 11, 12 and 13

Panthers - ages 14, 15 and 16

We do need to point out that the 16 year olds will need to be double vaccinated in order to play as that is a directive we’ve been told to follow from our governing bodies. This rule also applies to spectators so parents who wish to help lead the teams or stay and watch must be double vaccinated. Before we can approve any 16 year olds registration we will need to sight a proof of vaccination which can be emailed to admin@mufc.net.au

As the season draws closer we will release teams as we need more registrations before we can even start to attempt that. We have established a grading board who will try to make the teams as even as possible in ages and skill level as this is a fun, social competition to keep the kids active and playing the sport of champions.

Thank you all for your patience as we try to get this off the ground. We know this is highly anticipated as we have been asked for it to become a reality for a few years now. We are really looking forward to this and can’t wait to see it come to fruition!

Senior Summer Soccer Update

So you’ve heard the news, the Senior Summer Soccer competition is going ahead. We are only doing so once NSW hits 80% double dose vaccinated but with the outcome of this looking quite positive we are getting ready now.

That said, it will be run a little different this year.

Due to the time of year we have had to shorten the season by a half. We have arranged the competition as best we can in order to satisfy the majority of people. This means we have two pools (Black and White of course) of six who will play each other each week. The finals are then determined by where the team places in the pool. Top two are A Grade, middle B and last two C.

All players for this season MUST BE DOUBLE VACCINATED. We understand that this may be a controversial issue but please understand we are following the rules of which our governing bodies have set. Your registration will not be approved unless a Proof of Vaccination has been sighted by the Secretary of the club. You will need to send this to your team contact.

If you are not in a team but are still interested in playing please reach out to admin@mufc.net.au and we will endeavour to place you in a team. There are no promises as most teams are already full, but we will do our best to place you. Priority is always given to our winter players.

We do ask that there be no spectators unless absolutely necessary for the time being.

All players must sign in through our QR Code and on our team sign on sheets.

The canteen will be open but we do ask that no one congregate in the clubhouse as we can only have 10 people in there at any one time.

The committee would like to thank everyone for their patience in getting this off the ground. We appreciate the support we have received and are looking forward to hosting yet another summer competition.

Summer Soccer 2021 Update

Firstly we would like to thank all our members for being so patient in regards to this. As you can imagine it is a very difficult situation we are in.

Last night the committee met online for the monthly Committee Meeting where we discussed the future of the 2021 Summer Soccer season for both the Juniors and Seniors. It was decided that we will wait for one more month to make a final decision on whether the competitions will go ahead. This decision was influenced by a conversation had by Football NSW with NSW Health in regard to community sport. We will not be able to return until vaccination rates hit 80% which is predicted to be in early November. When the committee meets on the 11th of October we should have more of an idea as to if this will be the case.

We would like to ensure everyone understands that we are doing our best to get some sort of Summer season in for both our Junior and Senior competitions. That said, if we can go ahead the format will not be the same as planned. For example , the seniors will not get a full season and so we will make adjustments when/if the time comes.

We ask that you all hold off on registering until our next update just in case the unfortunate circumstance of canning the Summer season happens. Those that have already registered will notice you have not been approved just yet and we will continue to hold off on that until we know the outcome for the season.

Thank you again for your patience, we hope the next update brings good news. Until then stay safe and look out for one another.
