U9 White Round 5 Match Report

Cracker of a morning. Sun shining, beanies away and no jacket required! You could be mistaken for thinking the MUFC U9’s White team was an U11’s team. With the boy’s ability to kick with accuracy and strength, and passing like seasoned players from the backline to the forward line, the boys domination was on display yet again this weekend.

The theme of the day was long range goals! Milo nailed a ripper goal from the halfway line in the first half and backed it up with another. Milo and Mason were strong in defence controlling the first half onslaught. Saxon’s timing and ball control enabled him to score two first half goals from range and then another in the second half.

Mason’s corner kicking was outstanding allowing Xavier and Raff to capitalise and score each of their first goals. Xavier scored a double with a corker from outside the box in the second half. Ryan, Lachie and Tom helped with goal assists, displaying dazzling ball control and field runs on the wings, passing the ball through to Sebastian and Raff to score three of their five combined goals. Sebastian’s first touch of the football and control allowed him to score two great goals. Raff, sneaky as ever, capitalised on defensive errors from goal kicks scoring two of his three goals and displaying great cunning and skill.

Husky were a player down so Jack stepped up to take on his own team. He was in the thick of things in the second half playing hard and a lot of the ball in the second half. Jack made a remarkable, body-on-the-line save in defence when Sebastian let one launch. Milo and Lachie also volunteered to help the opposition players. Great work boys.

As always, Mark’s refereeing was biased (just kidding). He is awesome with the kids, teaching them skills and tips along the way. Jon, yet to be under pressure as a coach this season, rotated the boys through attack and defence and was encouraging and positive with his support and strategy. Damien looked sharp in his fluorescent vest. Not sure what his job was but he looked good doing it LOL.
