Once again, great conditions at Lighthouse Oval for the Primary Girls’ soccer match. The Reds and Blues played the first game of a two week competition and the result was a win for the Blue team, who gained an early lead. The Reds put up a non-stop effort, scoring a couple of goals but time ran out and they will have to wait until next Saturday’s game to even the score.
Coach and supporters were impressed with some great team work and sound passing as well as solid defence by both teams.
There was gallant work done by those who played goalies: Aanya and Georgie for Reds and Penny and Anahera for the Blues, with many shots saved.
Positives for Red individual players were: Aanya - active attack, Alana - perfect position, Olivia -midfield marking, Amelia - determined defence, Georgie -super saves, Matilda -mighty marking, Iluka - intense intercepts, Jasmine - non-stop action.
Positives for Blue players were: Abby - complete control, Anahera - forward force,
Jaya - obstacles for opposition, Evie -clever crosses, Skye - regular ‘run aways’,
Aurelia - consistent cover, Penny - action plus, Charli - midfield marking.
Super support by Oscar and Cooper was much appreciated.
Many thanks to our referees who did a great job and to those who helped after the game with returning equipment.
Two weeks until the final game on the 19th September so just two training sessions remain. Friday 4:00 p.m. at the oval.
Saturday’s game 10:00 as usual.
Joke for the week: Why did the soccer ball quit the sport?
It was tired of being kicked around!
